Freemasonry is a fraternal association dedicated to making good men better.  It teaches moral lessons to its members through dramatic presentations, but it has no theology and respects the religious beliefs of all of its members.  The roots of Freemasonry can be traced back to the guilds of stone masons who built the medieval castles and cathedrals.  These guilds eventually transformed into fraternal organizations known as Lodges.  The first formal organization of such Lodges was created when the Grand Lodge of England was formed in 1717.  Freemasonry spread to the United States and elsewhere around the world, leading to the creation of new Lodges and Grand Lodges such as the Grand Lodge of Ohio (founded in 1808), under whose authority Clifton-Gaston Allen Lodge is chartered.

Clifton-Gaston Allen Lodge traces its roots back to 1914, when the membership of Lakewood Lodge was deemed so large that it was desirable to create a second Lodge in Lakewood, namely, Gaston G. Allen Lodge.  Similar considerations led to the formation of Clifton Lodge in 1920.  Clifton and Gaston G. Allen Lodges consolidated in 1996.

Clifton-Gaston Allen Lodge holds two meetings each month except July and August--one stated meeting for business and one special meeting for social events or the initiation of new members.  The Lodge calendar typically includes other traditional programs and events such as the Children's Christmas Party, Summer Picnic, Table Lodge, Service Award Presentations, Past Masters' Recognition, Ladies' Night, and Memorial Service for Deceased Brethren.

Clifton-Gaston Allen Lodge also maintains a periodic exchange of visits with two sister Lodges in Canada; namely, Trinity Lodge #521 of Windsor, Ontario, the successor to Dominion Lodge #598, a relationship begun with Clifton Lodge;  and St. John's Lodge #209a of London, Ontario, a relationship begun with Gaston G. Allen Lodge in 1950.

Any man who is nineteen years of age or older and of good moral character, who has resided in Ohio for at least six months, who comes well recommended and who believes in a Supreme Being may petition to become a Freemason in Ohio.  For information on membership, please contact the Lodge Secretary.
